In a statement regarding the reinstatement of his house arrest following the prosecutor's objection, BİRTEK-SEN President Mehmet Türkmen stated that his freedom lasted only one day, adding, "They are trying to turn this country into a giant prison," and emphasized that they would expand their resistance.
Mehmet Türkmen, President of the United Textile, Weaving and Leather Workers' Union (BİRTEK-SEN), announced that the house arrest condition, which had been lifted by a release order, was reimposed following an objection by the prosecutor's office.
In a statement on his social media account, Türkmen said, "My freedom lasted only one day. I have been placed under house arrest again. I was going to participate in the protests in Antep today, but it is clear that they are very afraid. They are trying to turn this country into a giant prison."
Stating that the house arrest decision was made suddenly and unlawfully, Türkmen emphasized that they would further expand their resistance. He said, "We will not be silent, we will not be afraid! We will not bow even an inch to the oppression of this regime." He also called for solidarity, declaring, "There is no salvation alone, either all together or none of us!"
