Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that they shot down a US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the airspace over the city of Marib in northern Yemen.
Houthi Military Spokesperson Yahya Saree made a statement regarding the matter on the Al-Masirah television channel.
Military Spokesperson Saree stated that the Houthis targeted and downed a US MQ-9 drone, noting that the total number of US drones shot down has risen to 6.
Noting that "the downing of the drone was a response to the US-UK attacks on Yemen," Saree described the event as "a victory against the oppression of the Palestinian people."
There has been no statement from the US regarding the matter yet.
Saree had previously announced that they had targeted 6 ships in the Arabian Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea with missiles and drones on the grounds that they violated the decision to ban access to Israeli ports.
