How did Adil Öksüz escape? Where did the key figure of the July 15 coup attempt hold his final meeting?

Eight years have passed since the coup attempt by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ). 

One of the first names that comes to mind when July 15 is mentioned is Adil Öksüz.

The whereabouts of Adil Öksüz, a key figure in FETÖ's July 15 coup attempt, remain unknown. 

So, how did Adil Öksüz escape? Where and with whom did Öksüz hold his final meeting? 

Here are the untold truths on the 8th anniversary of July 15...

I began researching Adil Öksüz with my book published in 2020 by Kırmızı Kedi Publishingtitled “The Son-in-Law: The AKP Fathers-in-Law of the Fethullahists” . 

Although being born in Sakarya and having relatives living in Akyazısometimes made my research easier, I also felt the difficulties of it. 

Adil Öksüz, who was detained and then released following the July 15 FETÖ coup attempt, first went to his home in Istanbul and then to Akyazı, where he spent a lot of time. I will go into the details of this matter.

Adil Öksüz was born in the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş. However, the people I spoke with in the Akyazı district of Sakarya thought Öksüz was from Akyazı. 

I described it as follows in my book 'The Son-in-Law': 

“In a coffeehouse in Akyazı, we chatted with someone who knew Adil Öksüz because he was a tradesman and would greet him whenever he saw him. When I brought up the subject of Adil Öksüz, no one wanted to open their mouth, but after some persistence, I learned the following: Almost all the tradesmen in Akyazı knew Adil Öksüz. In fact, everyone thinks he was born in Akyazı. When I told them he was from Kahramanmaraş, the tradesman I knew was surprised. I didn't understand how a person could reside in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul, teach in Sakarya, and be so well-known in Akyazı.”

ADİL ÖKSÜZ'S LAST MEETING

Now is the perfect time for a brainstorming session...

You are a critical operative of a shadowy organization, you have failed to complete your assigned task, you are wanted, you are about to flee; what do you do?

The question is in our minds; let us now look at what Adil Öksüz did.

He was released in Ankara, flew to Istanbul, and called his brother-in-law Ali Sami Yıldırımasking him to pick him up by car.

It was around 09:30 when he landed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Someone about to flee might want to see people who are perhaps valuable to them "for the last timemight want to see."

Adil Öksüz's father, Mustafa Öksüz, was a retired laborer. He was 76 years old at the time of the coup attempt.

Adil Öksüz's mother, Zeynep Öksüz, had suffered a stroke and was bedridden.

The Öksüz couple lived in an apartment in Üsküdar.

Adil Öksüz's home was also in Üsküdar. In fact, they lived in the same apartment building as his brother-in-law, Ali Sami Yıldırım.

We do not know if he visited his family "one last time." However, his father, Mustafa Öksüz, and his mother, Zeynep Öksüz, one month after the coup attempt In an interview they gave to A Haber,they stated that they had not seen their son, Adil Öksüz.

Ali Sami Yıldırım, in his statement, explained that he had picked up Adil Öksüz from the airport and taken him to the house where they lived in the same building in Üsküdar Kısıklı. According to this statement, Adil Öksüz stopped by his home for the "last time."

From the morning hours until midnight, what did Adil Öksüz do with his brother-in-law Ali Sami Yıldırım and his wife Melike Yıldırım? Did they spend the whole day at home, or did they meet with anyone? The answers to these questions are important...

And there is also this question: Why did Adil Öksüz want to go to Akyazı?

Were his wife and children in Akyazı?

No!

Adil Öksüz had smuggled his wife, Aynur Öksüz, and their three children to the USA one month before the coup attempt. Aynur Öksüz and the three children were residing in a $550,000 house belonging to her brother, Abdulhadi Yıldırım, located in the Ridgefield neighborhood, one of the luxury areas of New Jersey. She was also spotted driving a Chevrolet brand car.

In Akyazı, there was neither Adil Öksüz's wife, nor his children, nor his parents. Only his father-in-law and mother-in-law...

Perhaps he chose Akyazı not for the people he wanted to see "one last time," but as a way to make an "easy" escape. Could that be it?

We continue our brainstorming with the information contained in the police report dated November 21, 2016.

It has been repeated a bit too much, but it is worth remembering so that we do not lose the thread while tracking the fugitive:

Adil Öksüz was captured on the morning of July 16, held in custody until July 18, brought before a prosecutor, and released by the court. On the morning of the 18th, he called his brother-in-law, arrived in Istanbul in the morning, and at night

they set off toward Akyazı.

And the police?

As for the police, on July 19, at Sakarya University Faculty of Theologythey entered Adil Öksüz's office around 12:50 PM. They seized his documents, copied his computer, and left the office around 3:40 PM.

On the evening of July 19, an arrest warrant had finally been issued for Adil Öksüz.

In other words, when Adil Öksüz set out on the night between July 18 and July 19, he was taking a serious risk for a fugitive.

He had a university where he worked in Sakarya, a home, and a father-in-law in Akyazı whom he visited frequently. Naturally, searches were going to be conducted in these places.

It is impossible for such a well-prepared fugitive not to have known this...

Moreover, I had mentioned that a source of mine who is a tradesman in Akyazı told me that Adil Öksüz was known by the local tradesmen and was even thought to be from Akyazı.

Adil Öksüz had done everything that defied logic. Someone listening to what I have described might ask, "the fugitive was eventually caught, right?" They would be right to ask...

I wanted to discuss this topic because Adil Öksüz was searched for days in the highlands of Akyazı, and the gendarmerie even set up a station in the highlands, yet no trace of him was found.

So, when did the police arrive at the home of his father-in-law, Cevat Yıldırım, known as the last place Adil Öksüz was seen?

According to a police report dated November 21, 2016, officers searched Cevat Yıldırım's house on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, between 8:00 PM and midnight.

Adil Öksüz had already left the house.

According to Cevat Yıldırım's statement dated August 11, 2016, Adil Öksüz had arrived at the house around 2:00 AM on the night connecting July 18 to July 19. In the same statement, Yıldırım claimed he left the house in the morning and, upon returning at noon, saw that his son-in-law was no longer there.

In his statement dated October 17, 2016, however, Cevat Yıldırım mentioned that they had performed the morning prayer together.

In this case, considering the times the police arrived at the house and the times Adil Öksüz left, It is possible to say he escaped by a hair's breadth.

I believe the question, "Who else was in the house when Adil Öksüz was at his father-in-law Cevat Yıldırım's home in Akyazı?"is significant.

When we review our previous information, those in the house were Adil Öksüz, his brother-in-law Ali Sami Yıldırım who picked him up by car, his wife Melike Yıldırım, his father-in-law Cevat Yıldırım, and his mother-in-law Hatice Yıldırım.

When we look at the list of names tried for aiding in the escape of Adil Öksüz, it is understood that there were two more people:

Adil Öksüz's brother-in-law, who is stated to be one of the key figures of FETÖ in the media, former Habertürk News Manager and Ankara Representative Erdal Şen and his wife Emine Şennur Şen.

In one hearing, Emine Şennur Şen stated that they had arrived at her father Cevat Yıldırım's house in Akyazı on the night of July 18, and said the following:

“Adil Öksüz came to the house while we were sleeping, but I did not see him or speak to him; when I woke up in the morning, he was gone. From what I learned from my mother, he said he had been detained in Ankara and released. I do not accept the allegation that I hid him.”

While Adil Öksüz arrived in Akyazı on the night of July 18 with his brother-in-law Ali Sami Yıldırım and his wife Melike Yıldırım, it cannot be a coincidence that his other brother-in-law Erdal Şen and his wife Emine Şennur Şen, who resided in Istanbul, also arrived that same night. In other words, it is contrary to the ordinary flow of life!

And it wasn't just the Şen couple!

Belkıs Nur Tetik, the daughter of Cevat Yıldırım, and her husband Ökkeş Tetik, who were made defendants on charges of helping Adil Öksüz escape, were also present at the “final meeting”.

It appears that Adil Öksüz held his final meeting at his father-in-law Cevat Yıldırım's house with the entire family, excluding his wife and his brother-in-law living in the USA.

I do not know whether they participated via the internet. Perhaps they had.

There are also these questions: How were those who chose to stay at home and be arrested convinced? Did Adil Öksüz convince them? And what did he promise?

We only saw the interview A Haber conducted with Adil Öksüz's sisters-in-law, the participants of the final meeting, Belkıs Nur Tetik and Emine Şennur Şen......

Speaking to Nazif Karaman from the Sabah Special Intelligence team,Emine Şennur Şen was saying, "We stayed in the same house that night, that is the only thing, but he left in the morning." ...

Belkıs Nur Tetik, on the other hand, defended herself by saying, "He deceived us too" Her final words were: Her final words were: "Our only crime is being relatives."

The two sisters, Emine Şennur Şen and Belkıs Nur Tetik, who were determined to have used ByLock, the communication tool of FETÖ, were tried in court At the Sakarya 5th High Criminal Court, he was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for the crime of“being a member of FETÖ”.

For example, the following accusation was made against the defendant Belkıs Nur Tetik: “It has been understood that Tetik knew that Adil Öksüz had returned after dropping off his wife, Aynur Öksüz, in America in June and that he had gone to Ankara in a black vehicle on July 13, 2016; by hiding Öksüz in the residence where he lived with his family, she revealed her own ties to the organization, and by failing to report Öksüz, one of the planners of the coup attempt, to the competent authorities, she enabled his escape.”
