Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake centered in Silivri, Istanbul, on April 23, more than 187 aftershocks occurred within 19 hours. One of the aftershocks had a magnitude of 5.9.
Istanbul residents, who experienced great fear and panic, took to the streets and parks.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared the latest data on the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred on April 23 via his social media account.
Kurum's post is as follows:
"Following the earthquakes in Istanbul, we are evaluating the reports from our citizens and continuing our damage assessment studies.
So far, we have inspected 15,013 buildings. We have determined that 12,398 buildings are undamaged and 1,025 buildings have minor damage."
