AKP MP Rumeysa Kadak announced that she had completed her master's degree in a post on her social media account on November 11, stating, "Updating my status: I have graduated from Oxford." Following Kadak's post, criticism regarding the tuition fees emerged, and she stated that she had completed the program on a scholarship.

'I WON OXFORD'S OFFICIAL SCHOLARSHIP'

Kadak used the following expressions in her scholarship statement:

“Unfortunately, there is no free education in England like there is in Turkey, but I studied with an official scholarship from Oxford. I am grateful to have won this scholarship, which a maximum of 4 people can benefit from.”


However, Kadak did not share details regarding the tuition fee.

HOW MUCH SUPPORT DOES OXFORD'S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDE?

According to information on the University of Oxford's official website, the tuition fee for the "The Scholarships for Women" program that Kadak attended is stated to be approximately 121 thousand pounds (approximately 5 million 324 thousand TL).

The scholarship options offered to students are in two forms:

Forté Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship, provided for female students and offering a discount of 37 thousand 500 pounds, reduces the tuition fee to approximately 3 million 674 thousand TL.

Club MBA Scholarship: With this program, which provides a 30 percent discount on tuition fees, the fee drops to 2 million 662 thousand TL.

Oxford does not have a scholarship program that offers completely free education.

Despite Kadak's claim of being on a scholarship, demands for transparency have risen in the public eye, considering that the program requires fees of millions of liras even with the highest scholarship rate. The failure to share details regarding the tuition fee has caused the controversy to continue.
