How the killer who martyred Şeyda Yılmaz, Yunus Emre Geçti, escaped from the police station has been revealed

Yunus Emre Geçti, who had previously been caught for 'motorcycle theft' and escaped from the police station, was apprehended again by security forces in the Ihlamurkuyu neighborhood of Ümraniye.

During the scuffle between Geçti and the police, the suspect seized the police officers' weapon and engaged in a shootout with them.

As a result of the clash, police officer Şeyda Yılmaz was shot in the head and critically wounded. Rushed to the hospital by teams arriving at the scene, Yılmaz was taken into emergency surgery but could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred.

Discussions continue regarding the negligence surrounding the incident where Yunus Emre Geçti, who was revealed to have a criminal record of 26 offenses, martyred police officer Şeyda Yılmaz during the scuffle that followed his escape from the police station.

Journalist Tolga Şardan wrote about how Geçti escaped from the police station in his column published on T24.

Here is what Şardan reported:

"Geçti, whose criminal record was identified through a GBT (General Information Gathering) check, was placed in detention. After a while, Geçti’s mother came to the police station to see her son who was being held in custody. She conveyed her request to the officers on duty.

The officers on duty at the police station, at the mother's request, took Geçti out of the detention cell. The mother and son met in the garden of the police station.

It was at this moment that the suspect with a criminal record, Yunus Emre Geçti, suddenly fled from the police station garden and started running, disappearing without a trace.

I do not know whether the officer(s) on duty supervised the meeting between the mother and son in the police station garden. However, I think that 'if they had been supervised, the suspect Geçti would not have been able to disappear so quickly.'

After that, things fell apart.

The suspect's escape during his meeting with his mother both panicked the police officers on duty at the station and put them on alert.

Because the escape of a suspect who should have been in a detention cell from a police station is a serious dereliction of duty for the police. It is a situation that carries penalties that could go as far as dismissal from the profession.

Meanwhile, Geçti’s mother mentioned where her son might have gone. The police, including police officer Yılmaz, set out in teams to pursue the fugitive.

The fact that the police officers who took action to catch the fugitive entered the operation without ensuring their own safety, relying on 'the strength of the Creator,' led to a process that ended in tragedy.
