How the taxi driver's killer was caught

In Istanbul's Sarıyer district, taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek was stabbed and thrown onto the side of the road after his vehicle was carjacked. While the body of Yanıkyürek, who lost his life at the scene, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute, police teams apprehended the murder suspect who stabbed and killed him in a short time. The incident occurred yesterday around 16:30 in Tarabya Neighborhood, Pamuk Street.

According to allegations, the lifeless body of a person who was stabbed five times and killed was thrown onto the road from a moving car. Upon reports from citizens, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

TAXI DRIVER KILLED

Examinations by medical teams determined that taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek, who had been stabbed in 5 places, had lost his life. After investigations by the Crime Scene Investigation teams, Yanıkyürek's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

CAUGHT IN A SHORT TIME

Following the incident, teams from the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau and the Sarıyer District Police Department took action. After brief efforts, the murder suspect was caught 500 meters away along with the commercial taxi he had carjacked. The carjacker was taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate for questioning.

HOW HE WAS CAUGHT

It was determined that the suspect taken into custody was a foreign national murder suspect named Y.B.G. During the investigation, the moment the murder suspect was caught by the police was recorded second by second by security cameras. In the footage that emerged, the carjacker murder suspect is seen driving in traffic in the commercial taxi he had carjacked. Police teams, who caught up with him in traffic, conducted an operation amidst the bewildered gazes of many drivers. The suspect, who was neutralized and removed from the vehicle, was handcuffed and taken away. Following the investigation at the Public Security Branch Directorate, the suspect was referred to the courthouse.
