How they are bypassing the commission penalty... A new method from opportunists in credit card cigarette sales! It has now become 'mandatory'...

A new tactic has been added to the illicit commission practices applied to cigarette sales via credit card. Businesses that now make the purchase of an additional product mandatory alongside cigarettes have begun to bypass the commission penalty with this method.

Consumers who want to buy cigarettes with a credit card have recently been encountering a new game played by businesses. Some businesses, which previously demanded a commission of between 1 and 5 TL on cigarette purchases, switched to a different practice after this method was banned.

While it is prohibited by law to charge an additional fee for cigarette purchases made with a credit card, businesses that do not comply with this rule face fines of up to 200 thousand liras.

Following consumer complaints, while some businesses continue their practices, others have resorted to a new method.

According to a report by Burak Demirbaş from Sözcü, some businesses have introduced a "mandatory product purchase" requirement alongside cigarettes to avoid the risk of fines.

While many businesses have resorted to this increasingly common practice, they end up making sales at a higher figure than what they would have obtained through the commission amount.

Some businesses thus aim to bypass the "commission" penalty.
