HÜDA PAR published a message on its social media account criticizing New Year's celebrations. The message included the following statements:

"The amount determined for the minimum wage being almost at the hunger threshold has caused great disappointment for low-income earners struggling to make ends meet. In this difficult process experienced by millions struggling with the cost of living, the waste and ostentation made in the name of 'New Year's events,' which are an invention of capitalist consumer culture, are a striking example of the injustice in income distribution.

While the amount to be paid to singers on New Year's Eve reaches up to 20 million liras, this figure is equivalent to almost 75 years of salary for a minimum wage earner. We are facing such an unjust picture. Young people who cannot make ends meet with the wages they receive cannot even dream of getting married for this reason. With this reality in plain sight, how can the authorities' complaints about being unable to encourage young people to marry be explained?

Spending large sums of money on illegitimate entertainment where negatives such as alcohol, drugs, and obscenity that corrupt the youth come to the fore reveals the insensitivity regarding the future of our youth and society.

While children are dying of hunger and cold in Gaza, with which we have thousands of years of historical, cultural, and religious ties, holding so-called New Year's celebrations—which even people of conscience in the West oppose—is driving a nail into the coffin of humanity.

While mercy, justice, morality, and law are being slaughtered along with innocent children and women, avoiding being a part of corruption, waste, and moral insensitivity is the minimum requirement of being human."
