Hüsamettin Cindoruk laid to rest
Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Hüsamettin Cindoruk, who passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment in Istanbul, has been laid to rest.

Former TBMM Speaker Hüsamettin Cindoruk, who was hospitalized on December 25 after falling ill at his home in Istanbul, passed away on April 11 at the age of 92. A funeral ceremony was held for Cindoruk at Teşvikiye Mosque following the noon prayer.
The funeral was attended by TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman by court order, IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, Anahtar Party Chairman Yavuz Ağıralioğlu, former Chief of General Staff retired General İlker Başbuğ, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, various political party leaders, Cindoruk's family, relatives, politicians, and numerous citizens. Following the funeral prayer, Cindoruk's body was taken to Zincirlikuyu Cemetery for burial.
Speaking to members of the press at the ceremony, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, "Our condolences to us all. We have lost a very important figure, from his time as a young lawyer in the Yassıada trials to his political partnership with Süleyman Demirel, and from his presidency of our Parliament to the critical roles he assumed whenever our politics reached a deadlock. We all hold him in special regard. Condolences to the Demirel family, his political colleagues, and to Turkey."
IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu stated, "He was an important defender of democracy. He undertook significant duties at every turning point in our history. He always made his presence felt with his role as a guide. Turkish democracy has lost an important lawyer who defended it. Regardless of his age or position, politics was never a field of ambition for him. In fact, Hüsamettin Cindoruk, who had been present in Turkish politics for 70 years, was someone who only requested to be a member of parliament twice. For him, what mattered was to serve and to be a servant to the Turkish nation. May God grant everyone such a funeral ceremony. Even in his passing, he will remain in both memories and hearts as a personality who unites people."
