The Istanbul Bar Association elections have concluded. Former CHP MP Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu has been elected as the new president of the Bar Association.
WHO IS İBRAHİM KABOĞLU?
Born on April 10, 1950, in the Borçka district of Artvin, Kaboğlu is a graduate of the Ankara University Faculty of Law. He completed his doctorate at the University of Limoges and Ankara University. He first became an associate professor and later a professor at the Marmara University Faculty of Law. He served as the Chairman of the Prime Ministry Human Rights Advisory Board.
In the 2018 Turkish general elections, he was elected as an Istanbul deputy from the Republican People's Party (CHP). He applied to be a parliamentary candidate for the CHP in the 2023 Turkish general elections but was not nominated.
İbrahim Kaboğlu, who has been a columnist for Birgün newspaper since 2007, was awarded France's most prestigious decoration, the Légion d’Honneur, in 2022.
Kaboğlu was elected as the new President of the Istanbul Bar Association in today's elections.
