Ibrahim Kaboğlu responds to lawyers' 'run for office' call
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Kaboğlu, who was urged by hundreds of lawyers to run for the presidency of the Istanbul Bar Association, will respond at a press conference tomorrow evening. Speaking to 12punto, Kaboğlu said he would make an announcement at the Istanbul Bar Association tomorrow at 19:00.

Over a thousand lawyers, who published a joint declaration under the name "Lawyers for Change," have called on constitutional law expert Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Kaboğlu to become a candidate for the presidency of the Istanbul Bar Association.
The declaration, which appeared on the website "degisimicinavukatlar.com," stated: "We are in times where the Constitution is suspended, fundamental human rights and freedoms are under threat, the public is being impoverished and condemned to hunger; and nature, animals, and historical and cultural assets are being targeted for destruction. The exclusion of the defense from judicial activities has made our profession almost impossible to practice."
HE WILL MAKE A STATEMENT TOMORROW
Speaking to 12punto, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Kaboğlu said he would make a statement regarding the matter on August 9. Kaboğlu will announce his decision regarding the candidacy calls at the Istanbul Bar Association at 19:00.
