İdris Naim Şahin to testify in Alihan Kuriş investigation

A new development has occurred in the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Alihan Kuriş. It has been learned that former Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin will be called to testify as part of the investigation.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Following the capture of Kuriş's fugitive brother, Hilmi Tuna Kuriş, while he was preparing to flee abroad, it was revealed that the vehicle with license plate 34 SL 313, which was determined to have taken him to Muğla, was allocated to Şahin.

Following this development, other vehicles allocated to Şahin were also placed under scrutiny, and examinations revealed that two more vehicles, with license plates 34 S 78* and 34 RM 86**, were used for purposes other than their allocation and in criminal activities.

AKIN GÜRLEK HAD STATED THAT ŞAHİN'S STATEMENTS WERE 'CONTRADICTORY'

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that vehicles belonging to former Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin were used by members of a criminal organization in the Alihan Kuriş investigation and emphasized that HTS records contradicted Şahin's statements.

WHAT HAD İdris Naim ŞAHİN SAID?

In a statement to BBC Türkçe, İdris Naim Şahin had said that the vehicle in question was used without his knowledge and that he had filed a criminal complaint.

Şahin, who lives in Ankara, stated that he had rented the vehicle in question to use during his visits to Istanbul and had agreed with the company to keep it in a parking lot when he was not using it. However, he said he learned from the press that the owner of the rental company had transported Hilmi Tuna Kuriş and Erhan Yılmaz in this vehicle.

Şahin emphasized that he did not know Hilmi Tuna Kuriş and Erhan Yılmaz, and announced that he had filed a criminal complaint against the company owner regarding the use of the vehicle without his knowledge.
