An IETT bus caught fire at approximately 10:20 AM on Eski Ankara Street in the Inönü neighborhood of Istanbul's Sancaktepe district. Smoke suddenly began to emerge from the engine compartment of the moving IETT bus. Noticing the smoke, the bus driver immediately pulled the vehicle over and stopped.
While the driver sought help from nearby citizens, those in the area quickly notified the fire department and the police. Teams dispatched to the scene in a short time intervened and brought the fire under control before it could spread.
A POTENTIAL DISASTER WAS PREVENTED THANKS TO THE BUS BEING EMPTY
The fact that there were no passengers on the bus during the fire prevented a major disaster. As the fire grew rapidly, the rear part of the vehicle was significantly damaged. While the fire crews completely extinguished the blaze, the driver was treated by medical teams at the scene.
