If İmamoğlu does not attend the hearing, how will the case proceed?

The first hearing of the expert witness case for CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned at Silivri Prison, will be held today at 10:30 AM.

However, İmamoğlu announced in a statement yesterday evening that he has decided not to attend the case.

İmamoğlu and his lawyers stated that they decided not to attend the hearing, which will take place in the courtroom at the Silivri Prison, on the grounds that "the location and time of the hearing were determined in violation of the law."

İmamoğlu's decision not to attend the hearing has raised questions about how it will affect the course of the case.

According to a report by Muratcan Altuntoprak from Sözcü, it is expected that an interim decision will be made after a 15-20 minute wait for the hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM.

It is expected that the judge will issue a 'compulsory attendance order' for Ekrem İmamoğlu and postpone the case.

Imprisoned İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had disclosed the name of the expert witness involved in the investigations into the İBB during a press conference titled 'Turpun Büyüğü' held on January 27.
