Acun Ilıcalı was a guest on Cüneyt Özdemir's YouTube channel, where he stated that he has a "disinterested sympathy" for President Tayyip Erdoğan and that he has voted for him.
In response to journalist Cüneyt Özdemir's question, "Did Erdoğan make you rich?", Ilıcalı replied as follows: "The President has had no influence on my success to date. Everyone can see this. I produced programs on Show TV, then on Star TV, and then I launched my own channel. What is unnatural about generating ratings and creating an economy? Our country is one of the top 20 economies in the world. I don't understand what the President has to do with me making money if I can get people to watch TV and be a producer in such a large country."
Furthermore, he expressed his sympathy for President Erdoğan with these words: "I have been saying this for maybe 15-20 years. I have a disinterested sympathy for our President. I have never had any connection with the AK Party. I voted for the AK Party. I find our President successful."
Comparing Turkey's situation 20 years ago to today, Ilıcalı stated that he has observed the developments in the country and that his stance toward President Erdoğan is based on a foundation of friendship. He also noted that he respects criticism and advocates for diversity and living together in tolerance within the country.
