Illegal betting operation in 35 provinces: 98 arrests

Out of 110 suspects detained in an illegal betting operation conducted across 35 provinces centered in Istanbul, 98 have been arrested. In efforts carried out by cyber police teams using artificial intelligence-supported systems, more than 5,000 websites determined to be used for illegal betting and gambling activities were blocked, while house arrest was imposed on 6 suspects and judicial control measures were issued for 6 others.

Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was carried out by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Investigation Branch against illegal betting networks. Simultaneous raids were conducted in 35 provinces, centered in Istanbul, targeting suspects identified as being involved in illegal betting and virtual gambling activities through artificial intelligence-supported analysis programs.

Of the 110 suspects detained within the scope of the operation, 98 were arrested. While house arrest was imposed on 6 of the suspects, judicial control measures including a travel ban and a requirement to report to authorities were decided for 6 individuals.

THOUSANDS OF SITES BLOCKED

Within the scope of the investigation, access to 5,000 websites determined to be used for illegal virtual betting and gambling activities was blocked. Additionally, 111 internet addresses identified as directing mobile users by advertising these sites, as well as 40 URL addresses found to be mediating payment transactions, were also blocked.

Thus, it was stated that the total number of URLs blocked within the scope of the operation reached 5,151.
