İmamoğlu addresses the new German government from Silivri: Turkey is not limited to Erdoğan

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been held at the Marmara Prison in Silivri for some time, has addressed the new government preparing to take office in Germany.

Following the recent decision by Germany to veto the sale of Eurofighter fighter jets to Turkey, Ekrem İmamoğlu has made a notable statement. 

In his call from prison, İmamoğlu criticized the veto decision and stated, "Turkey is not limited to Erdoğan," before making the following appeal:

"As I have learned from the press, following our imprisonment in Silivri, the German government has vetoed the sale of Eurofighter fighter jets to Turkey, which our air force is in great need of and has been waiting for a long time. 

 I would like to address the new government preparing to take office in Germany:

Turkey is not limited to Erdoğan; Turkey is greater than Erdoğan. Governments come and go. Turkey's national interests are more valuable than both Erdoğan and İmamoğlu. I urge you to reverse this decision.

 The end of the Erdoğan administration is in sight. Turkey's new administration will work with the European Union and all our allies, including Germany, within the framework of our mutual interests, the rule of law, and democratic principles based on human rights. We have not the slightest doubt that under our administration, Turkey will become a full member of the EU."
