İmamoğlu banner deemed 'praising a criminal': Decision regarding detained CHP youth branch president

Deniz Turan, the CHP Erzincan Youth Branch President, who was detained in Erzincan on charges of "praising a crime and a criminal" for hanging a banner of the imprisoned IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu at the CHP Provincial Headquarters, has been released after giving his statement.

In a statement made by the CHP Erzincan Youth Branch Presidency, it was stated that an investigation was launched by the prosecutor's office into Turan following his social media posts and certain statements reflected in the public domain.

It was learned that a detention order was issued for Turan following initial assessments made within the scope of the investigation, and that procedures were being carried out by police units.

It was noted that Turan was expected to be referred to judicial authorities after his statement was taken.

In a statement made by the CHP regarding the matter, it was said, "Our Youth Branch President was invited to the police station around 00:30-01:00 to give a statement on the grounds that he had hung a banner featuring İmamoğlu with the words 'Bring it on' at our provincial headquarters building.

Our Youth Branch President went to give his statement in his own vehicle. He was accompanied by our Central District President Ali Aras and our Provincial Secretary Hasan Nergiz.
