It has been learned that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his lawyers will not attend the expert witness trial scheduled for tomorrow, in protest of the hearing being moved from Çağlayan to Silivri.

İBB Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained in Silivri since March 23, was set to appear in court tomorrow regarding the charges of “attempting to influence an expert witness or witness performing judicial duties” and “attempting to influence a fair trial.”

İBB Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and his lawyers, who were expected to appear before a judge for the first time tomorrow in the “expert witness” case, have decided not to go to court on the grounds that the hearing was moved to Silivri through irregular methods.

In the statement made, it was said, “Because the first hearing of the case opened against İBB Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu due to his voicing of the illegalities experienced in the investigations has been moved to Silivri through unlawful procedures, İBB Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and his lawyers will not attend the hearing.”
