Following the announcement made by the Meteorology Department, forecasts that snowfall would be effective in Istanbul proved accurate, and the snow has begun to fall.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu shared an informative post regarding the precipitation, which has begun to show itself in the northern parts of Istanbul.
İmamoğlu shared the following regarding the snowfall:
"Snow has begun to take effect, particularly in the northern parts of Istanbul. The snowfall will continue until Tuesday noon.
Snow depth is expected to reach up to 20 cm north of the TEM highway and up to 5 cm between the E-5 and TEM highways.
All our teams are on alert, but we especially warn drivers to be cautious."
