İmamoğlu reaches agreement with Damascus Governorate for the reconstruction of Syria

Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "As the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, we have made an application for the reconstruction of Syria. Through the initiatives of the Damascus Embassy, we have been accepted by the Damascus Governorate. Our technical and bureaucratic team will go there very soon."

RECONSTRUCTION OF SYRIA

Participating in Uğur Dündar's program on Sözcü TV, IMM Mayor İmamoğlu made statements regarding the "reconstruction of Syria."

İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:

"In the matter of reconstruction, you cannot build a city just by constructing buildings. Those cities must have a soul. Every city has its own unique soul. There are different ethnic origins. There are different faiths. The elements that will make all these structures happy are actually universal. Children will be peaceful, parks will be beautiful, there will be nurseries, there will be dormitories.

As Istanbul, we say that we are one of the most ambitious municipalities in the world. With our system, our method, and our production model. In that respect, as the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, we opened our request by writing to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informing other Ministries, and subsequently writing as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Today, there was a positive response to our request from the Damascus Governorate.

We are going there, it is in our statement and our letters, by mentioning the cities of Syria, meaning Latakia where Alawites live, Damascus, and cities where Kurds live densely. We have a request to go to all these cities to explain our municipal services extensively."
