IMM Head of Financial Services Department Neslihan Vural stated that the CHP gaining a majority in the municipal council allows for progress on funding plans, including an initial public offering (IPO) for İGDAŞ. Vural announced that İGDAŞ, Halk Ekmek, İspark, and Hamidiye Su would be privatized and offered to the public.
IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to Vural's statements.
Speaking to Barış Pehlivan from Cumhuriyet, İmamoğlu said, "It was a statement by a bureaucrat that overstepped their bounds. There is a past council decision regarding the privatization of İGDAŞ. An IPO does not mean privatization. These issues are not their concern either. These are public matters. Is it not on our agenda? It is there as an IPO. But there are ways and methods for these with a social and public-oriented approach. It is not even currently being negotiated on our table. It is a statement that overstepped their bounds."
Vural had said, "As a finance person, I am in favor of privatization. I think that the municipality should ultimately return to only municipal business."
