Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at the ceremony for the commissioning of 200 new private public buses for IETT.
İmamoğlu reacted to the reports made by the pro-government press targeting IETT.
İmamoğlu stated the following:
"The same mindset that tries to destroy IETT in the biased press every day with, so to speak, lies and fabricated news, does the same thing to the metro and the metrobus.
They also write their headlines as 'Ekrem'. By the way, Ekrem is a very beautiful name. I carry it with pride; it is a legacy left to me by my great-grandfather. It is one of the very special names of our Prophet, and I am honored to carry it. The meaning of Ekrem is manliness and generosity. I am striving to carry this with care as well.
I also wish for the people who mention my name to mention it plenty. May it ring in their ears day and night."
STRIKING JAB AT ERDOĞAN
Continuing his speech, İmamoğlu mentioned the difficulties he has faced as the İBB since 2019 and took a jab at AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"If we were to write a book about the oppression, trouble, and obstacles we have faced for 6 years, the cabinets in the Palace's library would be full," said İmamoğlu, adding, "That is how much they have done. To wake up and go to sleep with Ekrem for 6 years... May God help him..."
