As part of the operations targeting CHP-run municipalities, several individuals, including the mayors of 5 major districts in Istanbul and Adana, who were detained on Saturday, May 31, were taken from the Istanbul Police Department to Bayrampaşa State Hospital for health checks this morning. The mayors were subsequently transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to provide their statements.

The names, including Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Adana Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, Adana Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin, IMM Deputy Secretary General Erdal Celal Aksoy, CHP PM Member Baki Aydöner, and former CHP MP Aykut Erdoğdu, were taken for health checks following their processing at the police station.

After the completion of the health checks, the questioning of the mayors, who were taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, began in the morning hours.

The footage of the mayors being escorted between police officers was harshly criticized by many political figures. One such criticism regarding these images came from IMM Mayor İmamoğlu.

İmamoğlu's statement included the following remarks:

"It may be delayed, but it will not go unpunished.

Those who detain our mayors and bureaucrats, elected by the votes of the people, with dawn raids based on the words of a slanderer, and who line them up like war criminals to film and serve the footage to the press, this nation will not forget this disgrace you have committed. You will sooner or later be held accountable before the law for these actions, which are devoid of conscience, morality, and justice.
