Speaking after a congratulatory visit to Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, İmamoğlu said, "Unfortunately, we are following the process regarding the news of another trustee appointment we received today.

First of all, the methods and procedures used in the maturation or formation of such environments during the trustee process break people's belief in democracy," he stated.

"THERE IS ANOTHER DIMENSION"

"In this context, there is a decision that was taken, justified by a case that began in 2014 but has not yet been concluded," İmamoğlu said, continuing as follows:

"There is another dimension; that is, even if such removals from office occur, there is a Municipal Council there by law, and that Council should elect a deputy mayor and continue its path.

But what breaks people's trust and belief in particular is, one; the process of appointing a trustee, and two; the process of ignoring the Council after this stage."

"I AM FOLLOWING IT CLOSELY"

Noting that he has been against the absurdity called 'trustee' from the very beginning, İmamoğlu expressed the following:

"And as someone who knows how much this issue truly wounds local democracy and how people protect their votes when they cast them, I think it severs the bond with democracy. I hope that those who make decisions in this direction, the people who implement the judiciary and the law, will be very sensitive.

I am also following the judicial process closely. Depending on the process, I will definitely share my thoughts with the public again. It is distressing. Under all circumstances, the issue of trustees must be removed from the minds of this nation. I hope for the law and the legislation to be applied in the most accurate way."
