Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, continues to keep his finger on the pulse of the agenda with social media posts made from there. This time, İmamoğlu made a post and a warning regarding Kanal İstanbul.

Defining the project as rent and plunder, Ekrem İmamoğlu requested that the information he shared be disseminated.

Here is that post by İmamoğlu:

My dear nation, I implore you. Please see these and share them.

Taking advantage of my absence, they have started the construction of 24,000 residences around the Sazlıdere Dam, one of the most important water sources on the European Side, for the sake of the rent and plunder project called "Kanal İstanbul".

This time, they have hastily put TOKİ into action. They have moved bulldozers and heavy machinery into the absolute protection zone, right up to the water's edge.

Not only have they ignored the official warnings of the İBB and İSKİ, but they have also reduced the drinking water usage rate of the Sazlıdere Dam from 100% to 0% with a Presidential decree. They hid this from the public without any shame and did not even inform İSKİ.

Let everyone understand that in our beloved Istanbul, we do not have a single drop of water source to sacrifice. We will never stop fighting against this unjust, unlawful, and opportunistic approach.

If you had even the slightest bit of sincerity regarding climate change and environmental protection, you would not attack Istanbul's water sources like this.

To the damage you have caused to the law, the economy, and democracy, you are adding the damage you have caused to the environment and Istanbul's water sources. You are adding another crisis to the climate crisis that the whole world is struggling with and seeking new ways and methods to address.

Abandon this rent and plunder project immediately. The nation will send you away anyway; at least do not cause any more damage to the soil, water, and air before you go.
