İmamoğlu says 'Turkey should lead in recognizing Palestine': It is a crime against humanity

Making a statement regarding the humanitarian aid crisis in Gaza, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "Turning hunger into a weapon and making humanitarian aid a subject of negotiation are among the gravest crimes committed against humanity.

Turkey must take the lead in healing the wounds of the Palestinian people, in the recognition of Palestine, and in ensuring lasting peace within the framework of a two-state solution."

The following statements were included in the announcement made from the social media account of the Presidential Candidate Office opened for İmamoğlu's presidential campaign:

"In Gaza, the 'Palestinian Pelé', who was trying to buy bread for his family, lost his life.

Thousands like him are quietly departing from among us. Turning hunger into a weapon and making humanitarian aid a subject of negotiation are among the gravest crimes committed against humanity.

Turkey must take the lead in healing the wounds of the Palestinian people, in the recognition of Palestine, and in ensuring lasting peace within the framework of a two-state solution.

However, for this, one must be willing to break the 'silence agreement' in relations with the US, which emboldens Israel.

Do not forget, history will record those who remain silent in the face of this brutality, as well as those who ignore Palestine for the sake of political fortune, as accomplices to the crime.”
