Eid message from İmamoğlu: 'The real holiday will be celebrated when we are rid of the conspirators'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu released a message for Eid al-Adha from Silivri Prison, where he is being held. İmamoğlu, who has been in prison since March 23, made notable assessments regarding the country's agenda and his detention process in his message.

"A BITTERSWEET HOLIDAY"

İmamoğlu described the transfer of some detainees from Silivri Prison to prisons in different provinces before the holiday as "the greatest bitterness of the holiday." Stating that this practice targets families, İmamoğlu said, "Be assured that the only reason they are doing this to our families is that they have become very weak and have completely detached from the nation."

"TIME TO BE RID OF THE HEGEMONY OF CONSPIRATORS"

In his message, İmamoğlu also harshly criticized the injustices and political operations taking place. Using the words, "This country will celebrate its real holiday when it is rid of those who carry out these insidious, coup-plotting, discord-sowing, and conspiratorial operations," İmamoğlu called for the restoration of justice and the removal of obstacles before the will of the people.

 İmamoğlu's Eid message is as follows:

"Today is Eid.

Every Eid, I would kiss the hands of my elders, gather with my extended family, and if I found the opportunity, I would visit the lands where I was born to receive the blessings of our elders. For the first time, I am entering an Eid al-Adha in prison.

Yes, I am far from my family, my loved ones, my home, and my work. I am a victim of a great injustice, a great conspiracy. But I know that with my struggle, I am in the hearts of millions of people. I am as sure as I am of my own name that the whole country will find relief once we emerge from this whirlpool.

My greatest bitterness this holiday is that my fellow travelers, who were unjustly detained, were transferred to other prisons just to torture their families. From here, I especially celebrate the Eid of my friends who were unjustly detained and their families. With all my heart, my strength, and my prayers, I am always with them.

Be assured that the only reason they are doing this to our families is that they have become very weak and have completely detached from the nation. The end of this mindset is near; they will soon leave, never to return. You, on the other hand, will leave behind your honorable stance, your magnificent resistance, and your victory story years from now.

This country will celebrate its real holiday when it is rid of those who carry out these insidious, coup-plotting, discord-sowing, and conspiratorial operations.
