İmamoğlu's call to the state and his companions in prison: 'Take note with seriousness'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained at Marmara Prison in Silivri since March 23, has issued a striking warning regarding the "IMM Exchange" scandal, which emerged with lawyer Mehmet Yıldırım, who oversaw the investigation into the IMM, and continues with lawyer Mücahit Birinci, who was expelled from the AKP.

Calling out to citizens, imprisoned CHP politicians, and state institutions from Silivri, İmamoğlu stated, "Slanderers who are under house arrest or allegedly roaming free are being turned into extras in these dirty games."

Citing the "slander, pay money, get released" scandal that targeted Fatih Keleş following the one involving Murat Kapki, İmamoğlu warned the politicians and bureaucrats in prison with the following words:

"Always be cautious against setups established on the axis of politics–judiciary–lawyers–media. You must report every incident or statement you suspect to your lawyers in writing, dated and signed. Your lawyers must immediately carry out the necessary procedures, notifications, and criminal complaints. This is essential to prevent mafia-like processes that threaten both our companions inside and our nation."

"I CALL ON THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND SECURITY FORCES TO TAKE ACTION"

In the full text of his message, where he called on the Ministry of Interior and security forces to take action, İmamoğlu said:

"I am speaking from Silivri Prison to our nation, to all our imprisoned political friends, our bureaucrats, and our companions:

This case, which was opened against us and has caused many people to be held in prison unjustly and unlawfully, serves the dirty calculations of dark circles. In this country, where we wake up to a new scandal every day, trust in justice is shaken more and more each day. Yet, the religion of the state is justice; if justice collapses, the state also collapses.

The trap set for my brother Fatih Keleş has been revealed in all its clarity. It is clear that behind these setups are circles that feed on evil and are constantly plotting new schemes.

My call to my nation:

See, know, and recognize these circles. Because terrifying scenarios are being staged with the cooperation of different actors. Slanderers who are under house arrest or allegedly roaming free are being turned into extras in these dirty games.

My call to my companions in prison:

Always be cautious against setups established on the axis of politics–judiciary–lawyers–media. You must report every incident or statement you suspect to your lawyers in writing, dated and signed. Your lawyers must immediately carry out the necessary procedures, notifications, and criminal complaints. This is essential to prevent mafia-like processes that threaten both our companions inside and our nation.

My call to our state:

I hope this appeal of mine is noted with seriousness. I call on the Ministry of Justice, the honorable members of the Supreme Turkish Judiciary, the Ministry of Interior, and the security forces to take action. This cry of ours is the voice of our nation, the outcry of justice. For the future of Turkey, the restoration of justice is mandatory."
