Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu spoke during the test drive of the Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe Metro Line, which is 80 percent complete.
Taking a jab at the People's Alliance's IMM candidate Murat Kurum, Imamoglu said, "What I am saying might confuse a candidate who hasn't done their homework; they need to receive a few hours of briefing to understand where this metro passes and where the district is located."
HE REMINDED ERDOGAN OF THAT VIDEO
In his speech, Imamoglu also referred to the remarks made by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Hatay and various other cities across the country regarding the unity of central and local government, and said the following:
“Just think; you hold the tender in 2017. Then the mayor comes along and says, ‘I canceled the tender.’ Then they say, ‘Wait a minute, what are you doing? This is irregular.’ A year later, you say, ‘Come on, start again.’ It is such an absurd period. That is why, do you know what the hollowest statement is? ‘Let us be the government, let us be the municipality, and let us get things done.’ Forget about that. I watched a beautiful video of the late Erbakan the other day.
The late Erbakan explained that this is a hollow argument, almost like giving a lecture. I advise Mr. President and other advocates of this view to listen to the late Erbakan's video. He explained it so well, that such a thing does not exist, and that the exact opposite motivation is better... I sign my name under every word the late Erbakan said. In this sense, it is proof of how poorly this process is managed, that their business and power are not about doing these jobs, and that they are preoccupied with other things.”

WHAT DID NECMETTIN ERBAKAN SAY?
It is considered that Imamoglu was referring to the election speech made by the then Welfare Party Chairman Necmettin Erbakan on TRT before the 1994 elections.
In his speech at that time, Erbakan had said:
"The claim that 'if you elect mayors from the ruling party, more services will come' is a lie and nothing but a deception. Because the revenues of the municipality are not left to anyone's whim. They are regulated by law and depend on their population and their own resources."
