Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate hopeful Ekrem Imamoglu continues his activities ahead of the primary election on March 23.

Imamoglu, who began his nationwide tours as part of his election campaign, stopped in his hometown of Trabzon yesterday evening.

A detail regarding Senol Gunes in the speech Imamoglu gave there drew attention.

"I HAD MY EYE ON SENOL GUNES'S SPOT..."

"May God not give the wicked an opportunity during the month of Ramadan. I am a lucky person. I was born, raised, and educated in Trabzon," said Imamoglu, continuing as follows:

"Frankly, I had my eye on Senol Gunes's spot. I was going to be a goalkeeper in his place, but God did not will it. However, instead of that, I served as an executive for Trabzonspor at the age of 31, and later I became one of the founders of our basketball team and served as its vice president. I also wish Fatih Tekke success.

Thank God I was born and raised here. Now, I am serving as the mayor of the most beautiful city in the world. Do you know whose pride this is? The name of the emotion and spirit that carries one from the Akcaabat village of Trabzon to the Pazarkapi neighborhood, from Trabzon to Cyprus, and from Cyprus to Istanbul is the Republic of Turkey. It is the mission that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk entrusted to the Republic that placed me in that seat."
