İmamoğlu's reaction to the re-arrest of 'slanderer' Soytekin: 'What will they say about those who were arrested?'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has reacted to the investigation involving Adem Soytekin, a businessman who was released after benefiting from 'effective remorse' in the İBB investigation but was recently re-arrested after his statements were found to be 'inconsistent'.

A re-arrest warrant has been issued for businessman Adem Soytekin, who was arrested on March 23 as part of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and released on July 10 after benefiting from 'effective remorse'.
Stating that it found Soytekin's statements to be "inconsistent," the prosecutor's office requested that Soytekin be re-arrested on charges of "Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing a Crime." Soytekin was re-arrested and sent to prison.
Among those arrested following the 'effective remorse' statement given by Soytekin is İmamoğlu's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan.
He had been released with an 'effective remorse' statement: Businessman Adem Soytekin, whose statements were found to be "inconsistent," has been re-arrested.
İmamoğlu also reacted to the investigation through the re-arrest of Adem Soytekin.
In his statement, İmamoğlu noted the following:
"The conspiracy constructed under the name of 'effective remorse' has openly collapsed.
The fact that a person who was previously made a 'slanderer' and released is now being re-arrested due to contradictions in their statements clearly shows the method by which this file is being conducted.
What will those who identified these contradictions today say about the people who were arrested based on the same statements?
Where will those who were deprived of their freedom and torn from their families because of those inconsistent statements seek justice?
Has it only just dawned on you?
An arrest based on statements contrary to law and facts is clearly a violation of rights.
Pressuring people to save their spouses, children, or siblings from prison, and forcing them to sign texts placed in front of them, is a clear violation of the law.
The state's duty is not to corner those people, but to operate the law and ensure justice.
Justice cannot be bent or twisted for political purposes.
Those who try to conspire against the will of Istanbul must now understand this: The nation will not surrender to dirty games.
One day, the law will begin to operate in its true sense for everyone, and until that day, we will continue to tell the truth and defend the will of the nation."
