The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the CHP-run Sarıyer and Şişli municipalities, alleging that they "provided financing to the DHKP-C through tenders between 2014 and 2016." As part of the investigation, simultaneous operations were conducted at a total of 34 addresses in Samsun, Bursa, and Izmir, as well as 15 district municipalities in Istanbul. 32 people were detained in the operations.
TRT Haber claimed that a person named K.Ö. was among those detained and that this individual was an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem Imamoglu.
However, it was observed that there is no advisor by the name of K.Ö. on the official IMM website.
In its statement regarding the matter, the IMM said, "IMM Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu does not have an advisor by this name. It is also significant that the state broadcaster TRT did not obtain information from IMM units while reporting this claim. All legal actions will be taken against TRT for reporting this operation. The list of Mr. Imamoglu's advisors is available on our corporate website."
