Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür evaluated the two earthquakes.

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made an assessment regarding the earthquake on his social media account X. In his message, Görür stated, "There was a 4.4 earthquake in the Aegean. It is a relatively deep earthquake.

As can be seen from the sea bathymetry, it is on a NE-SW trending fault. The floor of the Aegean Sea is full of numerous extensional faults," he said.

STATEMENT ON THE VAN EARTHQUAKE

Regarding the Van earthquake, Görür said the following:

13 hours ago, there was a 4.0 earthquake in Çolpan, Van. The earthquake was a shallow one between the Erciş and Karayazı fault zones.

This region had sustained certain damage during the 2011 Van Earthquake. Get well soon, with love.
