Important warning from Naci Görür following the earthquake in Ankara

The tremor, recorded at 08:24, took place at a depth of 11.08 kilometers.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş reported that there were no negative incidents due to the earthquake.

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement regarding the earthquake, which caused brief panic.

Stating that the earthquake occurred on the reverse fault-type Çankırı Fault Zone, Görür said that this fault zone has the potential to produce earthquakes reaching a magnitude of 7.

Görür's statement is as follows:

"A shallow 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Dağdemir-Kalecik/Ankara. The earthquake is on the reverse fault-type Çankırı Fault Zone. This zone can produce earthquakes reaching a magnitude of 7. It is approximately north-trending and forms the western boundary of the Kırşehir Massif. Get well soon."
