Pointing out that the earthquake was small but occurred in a troubling spot, Görür said, "We are expecting earthquakes on both faults in this region. We are always concerned that earthquakes occurring near these areas could change the stress field on the faults."

While more than a year has passed since the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6, every tremor experienced in Turkey causes millions of citizens to experience great fear and panic.

The 4.2 magnitude earthquake, which had its epicenter in the Karlıova district of Bingöl at 18:27 today, was met with panic by the local population, and striking warnings came from Prof. Dr. Naci Görür after the earthquake.

"WE ARE EXPECTING EARTHQUAKES ON BOTH FAULTS"

Görür, one of Turkey's most famous geologists, reiterated his previous warnings for the Karlıova area in his post regarding the earthquake, stating the following:

"A 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Karlıova-Serpmekaya/Bingöl. The earthquake is small but its location is troubling. It is close to both the NAF and the EAF. We are expecting earthquakes on both faults in this region. We are always concerned that earthquakes occurring near these areas could change the stress field on the faults."
