Imprisoned lawyer Rezan Epözdemir responds to allegations

Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was arrested in August on charges of "mediating bribery," reacted sharply to the allegations spread against him in a statement made from his social media account. Epözdemir stated that the attacks against him are completely baseless and announced that he will pursue legal action regarding this matter.

Epözdemir expressed that the allegations made against him in social media posts are entirely fictional and a product of imagination. In a post spread by trolls, it was claimed that Epözdemir had stated in prison that he was "being treated unfairly because he is a Kurdish and successful lawyer and that he was considering suicide due to the injustice he was experiencing." Emphasizing that these claims are untrue, Epözdemir stated, "I have absolutely no such statements, and I could not have."

“THIS IS AN OPERATIONAL LIE AND SLANDER”

Arguing that the lies and slanders were made to create a perception in the public eye, Epözdemir said, "This is an operational lie and slander made in a despicable, dishonorable manner to influence the public and create a perception." Stating that the source of the posts in question is not even clear, Epözdemir used the expressions, "Neither I nor my relatives have such a statement, and it cannot be."

THE GOAL OF THE TROLLS IS TO CREATE A PERCEPTION

Epözdemir stated that the attacks against him were being reinforced by lies spread by trolls following his imprisonment. Saying that the trolls aim to create a perception in the public eye by targeting him, Epözdemir expressed that all of these posts are "untrue and immoral." Furthermore, regarding the purpose of the posts, he said: "The sole purpose of those who quote these posts, which consist entirely of untrue and immoral slander, and try to present them as a threat, is to target me unlawfully by creating a perception in the public eye."
