Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested during an operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and transferred from Silivri Prison to İzmir Buca Prison, has been referred from İzmir Buca Prison to Katip Çelebi University Hospital.
Additional examinations will be performed on Çalık, who has a history of leukemia and lymphoma, and a report will be prepared regarding whether he is fit to remain in prison.
As part of the March 19 operations, İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 other individuals, including Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, were arrested on charges of 'being a leader of a criminal organization', 'being a member of a criminal organization', 'extortion', 'bribery', 'qualified fraud', 'unlawful acquisition of personal data', and 'rigging a tender'.
