India vetoes Erdoğan in BRICS!
The German newspaper BILD has claimed that Turkey's accession to BRICS was vetoed by India. India cited Ankara's close relations with Pakistan as the reason for the veto.

According to a report by the German newspaper BILD, India has blocked Turkey's accession due to Ankara's close relations with Pakistan, preventing the necessary consensus from being reached.
TURKEY HAD APPLIED
Yuri Ushakov, an advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced in September that Turkey had submitted an application for BRICS membership. Ushakov had stated, "We will evaluate it," regarding the application.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also stated, "Turkey is showing interest in joining BRICS."
ERDOĞAN ATTENDED THE SUMMIT
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the BRICS Summit held in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, which is part of Russia.
Erdoğan took part in the family photo at the BRICS Summit.
ABOUT BRICS
Consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS was initially referred to by the acronym "BRIC," which did not include South Africa. It entered the literature in 2001 after being used in an article by British economist Jim O'Neill to highlight the growth potential of Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
The establishment of the union dates back to 2009, with initiatives from Russia, as an informal platform to balance the global dominance of the US and Western countries. With the invitation of South Africa a year later, the union took on its current name, BRICS.
With a decision taken at the BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa, in August 2023, the accession of 6 countries—Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Argentina—to the union was approved. However, Argentine President Javier Milei announced on December 30 that they were withdrawing from the BRICS group mechanism, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Founded in June 2006 when Brazil, Russia, India, and China came together at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BRICS became a multinational structure with the participation of South Africa in 2010, and Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year. More than 40 countries have applied to join BRICS.
Azerbaijan was the latest country to apply for membership in the union.
