Indictment completed regarding the death of Ferdi Zeyrek: Here are the requested sentences

An indictment has been prepared regarding the death of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek due to electrocution and the injury of Nurcan Zeyrek while she was attempting to save her husband.

In the indictment prepared regarding the death of Ferdi Zeyrek due to electrocution and the injury of Nurcan Zeyrek while she was attempting to save her husband, it was requested that 10 suspects be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 to 15 years for the crime of causing the death of one person and the injury of another through negligence.

In the investigation conducted by the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in which Ferdi Zeyrek's wife Nurcan Zeyrek and daughter Nehir Zeyrek are listed as complainants, proceedings were initiated against 19 individuals, and authorization for investigation was also requested regarding M.S. and Ö.T., who are employed at the Yunusemre Municipality.

According to the evidence, statements, and expert reports collected during the investigation process, an indictment was prepared against 10 people determined to have primary and secondary fault.

In the indictment submitted to the Manisa 5th High Criminal Court, it was stated that Nurcan Zeyrek was also injured while trying to save her husband during the incident in which Zeyrek lost his life.

It was requested that the detained suspects N.B., who performed the electrical and motor installation of the pool and carried out the assembly, and H.I., who performed repairs when the pool motor broke down, as well as the non-detained suspects site employee A.E., Y.Ö., who handles pool maintenance and cleaning and occasionally deals with problems in the machine room, motor winding company owner H.A., electricity distribution company employee M.E., building inspection company auditor engineers R.A., H.Ş., and M.Ç., and contractor company official M.G. be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 to 15 years for the crime of causing the death of one person and the injury of another through negligence.

A decision of non-prosecution was issued for 9 people in the investigation.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED

Then-Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who was electrocuted while trying to check a malfunction in the pool's machine room at his home in Yunusemre district on the evening of June 6, passed away on June 9 at the Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital, where he had been taken in critical condition.

Y.Ö., who was responsible for the maintenance of the pool, and A.S., who was responsible for the site's maintenance and security works and was determined not to have reported the residual current situation, were detained, and both suspects were released on June 11 under judicial control conditions.

Within the scope of the investigation, on June 14, Z.M., who was alleged not to have built the distance between the energy room in the house and the pool in accordance with standards, M.Y.P., who was considered to have taken part in the construction of the pool, N.B., who was alleged to have designed and installed the motor and electrical components and other equipment in the pool energy room contrary to standards, and H.I., who was alleged to have performed incorrect and faulty assembly, were detained.

Among the suspects referred to the courthouse, Z.M., N.B., and H.I. were arrested on charges of causing death by negligence, while M.Y.P. was released after procedures at the prosecutor's office.

Z.M., one of the suspects who was arrested on the grounds that he carried out the pool construction work and was not found at fault in the expert report, was released from prison on September 27 after the procedures.
