Indictment for CHP Congress accepted
The indictment prepared as part of the investigation into the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress has been accepted by the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance. Breaking news.. The investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into allegations of irregularities during the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress has concluded with the completion of the indictment.
The indictment, which requests punishment for 12 individuals—including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—for the crime of 'violating the election law', has been approved by the court.
The accepted indictment seeks prison sentences ranging from 1 to 3 years for 12 individuals, including Ekrem İmamoğlu and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay.
PRISON SENTENCES SOUGHT
The other individuals for whom prison sentences and political bans for the duration of the sentence are sought on the grounds that they committed the crime of "tampering with voting" as defined in Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties are as follows;

CHP Party Assembly Member Baki Aydöner
CHP Youth Branch Deputy Chair Serhat Can Eş
Former CHP Mardin Provincial Chair Mehmet Kılınçaslan
And former CHP Party Assembly Member Hüseyin Yaşar
Rıza Akpolat had been suspended from his duties by a decision of the Ministry of Interior in January as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
WHAT HAPPENED?
An investigation into irregularities regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, held on November 4-5, 2023, had been launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Former Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates had filed separate lawsuits in various courts for the annulment of the CHP congress held on November 4-5, 2023.
The filed annulment cases were consolidated into the file at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.
