Indictment prepared against Enver Aysever: 1 to 3 years in prison requested
An indictment has been prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against journalist Enver Aysever, who was detained due to statements he made during a YouTube live broadcast, seeking a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years. Aysever will appear before a judge in the coming days.

Following a video titled "The one who corrupted the morality of the Republic is Menderes, first and foremost. It is all the right-wingers who have come since Menderes. Right-wing politics is a crime; when you are a right-winger, you become immoral. Therefore, come and join the fight against right-wingers," which he broadcast live on YouTube, an investigation was launched by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into journalist Enver Aysever, and Aysever was arrested on December 11 within the scope of the investigation.
The investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the statements in question has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Enver Aysever is listed as a 'suspect.' The indictment states that Aysever's remarks constituted the crime of inciting the public to hatred and hostility, and that an ex officio investigation was launched for this reason.
"I MADE THESE REMARKS UPON SOME STATEMENTS BY IMAMOĞLU'S FATHER"
Aysever's statement to the prosecutor was also included in the indictment. It was reported that in his statement, Aysever defended himself by saying, "A clip was cut from the video and shared on social media. I was deliberately targeted. I made these remarks upon some statements by Ekrem İmamoğlu's father, Hasan İmamoğlu. Considering the sociological structure of the country, it is impossible for me to insult a community that is 70 percent conservative and nationalist. I have been a journalist for 30 years; my intention was definitely not to demean right-wing people."
UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON REQUESTED
The indictment noted that the words uttered by Aysever could not be evaluated within the scope of freedom of expression, and that the defendant had publicly incited left-wing citizens against right-wing citizens, thereby committing the charged crime. In the prepared indictment, it was requested that the defendant Enver Aysever be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for the crime of 'publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility.' The indictment has been accepted by the Küçükçekmece 30th Criminal Court of First Instance.
Aysever will appear before a judge in the coming days.
