The investigation into the incident that took place at the beIN Sports building in Istanbul on November 10, 2025, has been completed. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Kemal S., who forced his way into the building with a weapon later determined to be a toy. The indictment lists sports commentator Güntekin O. and Mustafa B. as complainants, while Kemal S. is included in the file as a suspect.
ENTERED THE BUILDING WITH A TOY GUN, ISSUED THREATS
The prepared indictment states that the suspect, Kemal S., entered the building through an emergency exit while holding an object resembling a weapon, sat at an office desk, and was seen with a handgun in his possession. It was reported that despite warnings from security personnel to drop the weapon, Kemal S. persisted, stating, 'My wife works here; the person named Güntekin O. will come here and apologize. He insulted my wife, and I will not leave or let go until he comes.' It was noted that the suspect calmed down and ended his actions upon the arrival of police special operations teams, and subsequent examinations confirmed the weapon was a toy.
"MY INTENTION WAS TO PROTECT MY WIFE" DEFENSE
The indictment also includes the defense of Kemal S. It was reported that in his statement, the suspect said he learned that his wife had been scolded by Güntekin O. at her workplace over a food order, and that he became very angry about this situation. Stating that he entered the building through the main entrance but his wife did not let him in, Kemal S. noted that he forced his way inside and told the security supervisor, 'I have a gun at my waist, get out of my way.' The suspect, who argued that he did not point the gun at anyone, stated that his primary intention was to protect his wife.
"HE CAME TO MY WORKPLACE AND THREATENED ME WITH A GUN"
In his statement, complainant Güntekin O. explained that he had ordered food the day before the incident due to a busy work schedule. Stating that the courier called him to say the order had arrived, Güntekin O. said he asked for the food to be left at reception, but learned at 17:11 after another call that security had not accepted the order. He stated that he then went down to the reception and asked the security guard why the food was not accepted, to which the guard replied that it was not his responsibility. Explaining that he told the guard, 'You need to notify the service staff so they can come and get it,' Güntekin O. said he left after telling the security guard, 'Just take my food and sit down, what are you doing, it's just a phone call, the service staff will come and get it.' Güntekin O. stated that he is filing a complaint against Kemal S., who later came to his workplace, threatened him with a gun, and damaged his reputation.
On the other hand, it was stated that Mustafa B., who is listed as a complainant in the file, is also a plaintiff and complainant on behalf of the company in his capacity as a company lawyer.
REQUEST FOR UP TO 12 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS IN PRISON
The prepared indictment requests that a lawsuit be filed against Kemal S. for the crimes of 'violating workplace immunity by using force or threats' and 'threat with a weapon' in a chain manner. The prosecution has requested that the suspect be sentenced to a total of 3 years and 3 months to 12 years and 3 months in prison.
