Hasan D., who shared a video containing threats against television programmer and host Esra Erol, was apprehended today and arrested following his detention.
The General Directorate of Security (EGM) announced today that the individual named Hasan D., who shared a video containing threats against television programmer and host Esra Erol, had been taken into custody. The detained Hasan D. was brought before the judge at the Istanbul 4th Criminal Court of Peace today.
FLIGHT RISK HIGHLIGHTED
In the decision rendered by the judge, attention was drawn to the content of the video analysis report regarding the suspect Hasan D. threatening Esra Erol, and it was recalled that there is a suspicion of flight due to the fact that 7 arrest warrants had been issued for the suspect in the past.
EMPHASIS ON CRIMINAL RECORD
On the other hand, the decision issued by the court stated that "considering the content of the convictions in the suspect's criminal record, as well as the subject and severity of the crime, it was concluded that judicial control measures would be insufficient and that arrest would be proportionate," noting that Hasan D. had been convicted of certain crimes.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Following the arrest of Mustafa Çabuk, a self-proclaimed 'mahdi' who was alleged to have held 300 people captive in a hotel and was arrested recently, his follower had threatened Esra Erol with death.
THEY POSED AS EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
It was revealed that the group, referred to as the 'Hilafeti Muhammediye Order,' had posed as earthquake victims 18 months ago with Mustafa Çabuk, whom they accept as their 'mahdi,' and rented thermal houses near the village for 2 years.
FOLLOWER THREATENED WITH DEATH!
Hasan, a follower said to be the brother of Mustafa Çabuk—who was arrested along with 15 of his followers in a joint dawn operation conducted by the gendarmerie and police regarding 'establishing a criminal organization for profit and fraud'—also threatened Esra Erol. In the video he published, he threatened Erol with death, saying, "Hey Esra Erol, I know what you are trying to do. You took my life, and I will take yours. I will also take the lives of those who support you. I will take everyone's life. Don't mess with me, I'm telling you, don't mess with my life. You will be thrown off the walls, you will be torn to pieces and thrown off the walls. Dog."
