The incident took place at midnight in Aksaray. According to the information obtained, the Public Security Branch teams of the Provincial Police Department, who were conducting a routine check in the city center, signaled a light commercial vehicle with license plate 68 AAP 995 to "stop" due to suspicion.
Ignoring the order, the driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake and fled the scene at high speed, prompting police teams to pursue the suspect. The chase, which shattered the silence of the night in the streets of Aksaray with siren sounds, lasted approximately 1 hour.
Despite repeated "stop" orders from the police, the driver continued to flee at high speed while driving dangerously and managed to evade the police for a while. During this time, the driver stopped in a street to remove the front and rear license plates of the vehicle, and the police team conducting the pursuit reported the situation to the communications center.
Following the announcements, all teams blockaded the area where the vehicle had disappeared. After a while, the police teams, who saw the same vehicle driving without license plates, signaled the driver to "stop" again.
A new chase began between the driver, who again did not comply with the order, and the police. The police teams followed from a distance to avoid causing an accident while the driver, who was speeding through the streets of Aksaray, disregarded both his own life and the lives of other drivers.
Despite this, the fleeing driver lost steering control due to the influence of alcohol on Büyük Bölcek Street and crashed into a parked pickup truck with license plate 68 ABM 951. As a result of the accident, the vehicle driver Oğuz G. (24), his passenger Muhammet Ö. (22), and his wife Hediye Ö. (21) were caught and taken into custody.
While the driver and his friend were taken into custody by police teams and handcuffed behind their backs, an alcohol test revealed that the driver was unlicensed and had a blood alcohol level of 1.11 promille. Muhammet Ö., the friend of the intoxicated driver who remained silent, reacted to both the police officers and the members of the press.
It was noteworthy that Muhammet Ö., who fled from police teams for 1 hour, said, "We have infinite respect for the state," while also trying to defend himself by asking, "Am I a terrorist?" The vehicle driver was fined a total of 8,689 TL, including 2,250 TL for driving without a license and 6,439 TL for driving under the influence of alcohol, while the vehicle owner was fined 5,679 TL for allowing an unlicensed person to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was banned from traffic and towed to a parking lot by a tow truck.
