Footage recorded in a side street in the city center of Gaziantep has become a major topic of discussion.
While a group of 7 people were waiting on the street, 2 of them were seen to be armed.
The individual, who was tucking a Russian Kalashnikov infantry rifle under his shirt and is alleged to be named Bedir Aydın, shouted threats and profanities at the person filming him.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that the 7 people in the footage, which went viral on social media, have been apprehended.
In his statement, Yerlikaya noted that an investigation was conducted by the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department regarding the individuals who appeared on social media posing with long-barreled weapons in the middle of the street in Gaziantep, causing fear and anxiety among the public.
Providing information that address inquiries and field operations were initiated under the coordination of the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department's Public Order, Counter-Terrorism (TEM), Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM), Intelligence, and patrol teams as a result of the efforts to apprehend the suspects, Yerlikaya stated the following:
"7 suspects (B.A, S.D, Y.S, A.D, A.Ç, E.A., and H.H.K.), including the individuals featured on social media, have been apprehended. We will continue our fight without pause against those who disturb the peace of our people and those who cause threats and fear. We will cut off the breath of all criminal groups that threaten the peace of our noble nation. This is our promise to our nation."
