Industrialist Asım Kibar passes away

Asım Kibar, the founder and honorary chairman of Kibar Holding and a leading figure in Turkish industry, who had been undergoing treatment for some time, has passed away.

Asım Kibar, the founder and honorary chairman of Kibar Holding and a leading figure in Turkish industry, has passed away. The funeral of the veteran businessman will be held on Sunday, June 8, at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque, following the afternoon prayer, after which he will be laid to rest in the family plot at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

Asım Kibar, who undertook major roles in the development of industry, spearheaded pioneering investments in many sectors such as aluminum, automotive, food, real estate, and energy through Kibar Holding, which he founded. In addition to industry, he implemented numerous social responsibility projects that touched the lives of many in the fields of health and education. Kibar, who placed great importance on values such as trust, honesty, diligence, and innovation in the business world, was known as a leader who frequently met with his employees to share his experiences. Asım Kibar, who also authored an autobiographical work titled "Trust is the Most Valuable Asset," achieved many successes throughout his 92-year life.

WHO IS ASIM KIBAR?

Born in Kayseri in 1933, Asım Kibar began his business life in 1951 with textile trading and served as a Board Member, Deputy Chairman of the Board, and Chairman of the Board at the Orta Anadolu Textile Factory between 1964 and 1970.

Asım Kibar, who started iron trading in 1970 and established his family company in Istanbul, served as the founder and Chairman of the Board of Kibar Holding, which currently encompasses a total of 24 companies. He was named "Businessman of the Year" by Siyaset Magazine in 1997, "Businessman of the Year" by the National Productivity Center in 1998, received a "Special Award" from the Kayseri Chamber of Industry in 1998, and was named "Businessman of the Year" by Nokta Magazine in 1999. He was awarded the "Commandatore Order of Merit" by the President of Italy in 2002, and the "Turkish Business World Honorary Award" by Capital and Ekonomist magazines in 2016. Kibar was also a founding member of the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG).
