Inheritance dispute in Menzil caught on camera!

As the community, which has become like a holding company with its own businesses, foundations, and associations, split into three, Mübarek Erol took charge of Semerkand, the most visible foundation of Menzil. Muhammed Saki Erol founded the Serhendi Foundation, while Muhammed Fettah Erol established the Buhara Foundation. Most recently, one of the brothers, Muhammed Saki Erol, had published a statement accusing his brothers of failing to transfer certain real estate assets to the foundation.

THEIR DISPUTE CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Meanwhile, the inheritance dispute in Menzil has begun to spill out in front of cameras. In the video footage of a meeting in Menzil Village, located in the Kahta district of Adıyaman—the village that gave the sect its name—it can be seen that the leaders of the Menzil Foundation, brothers Muhammed Mübarek Erol and Muhammed Fettah Erol, are arguing openly in front of sect supporters with Muhammed Saki Erol, who founded the Serhendi Foundation. The inheritance dispute that the three brothers entered into following the death of Menzil sheikh Abdülbaki Erol was recorded with the words, "Brother, you are talking like this now, but on the second day after my father's passing, your people raided the dervish lodge."

DECISION TO ESTABLISH A SHARIA COURT

According to a report by Ramazan Debgiz from Euronews Turkish, a member of the Menzil community who wished to remain anonymous stated that a decision to establish a Sharia court was made at the gathering referred to as a "meeting."

In the footage, it is noted that Serhendi Foundation leader Muhammed Saki Erol, Semerkand Foundation leader Muhammed Mübarek Erol, and Muhammed Fettah Erol are sitting in the same row in front of the community, positioned diagonally across from one another, and that the person presiding over the meeting is Seyyid Mustafa El Hüseyni, who was Abdulbaki Erol's "caliph" in Mersin.

'ASSET DIVISION WILL BE CONDUCTED ACCORDING TO SHAFI'I JURISPRUDENCE'

In the video, Seyyid Mustafa El Hüseyni says, while reciting the 'basmala', "Forgive me. We were forced to speak here. Because angels will not come down from the sky to solve this matter. This matter will be resolved according to the inheritance law left to us by Prophet Muhammad."

El Hüseyni explains the decision as follows: "One, the inheritance left by Abdulbaki Erol; the foundation, the dervish lodge, the madrasa, the mosque, and other things, all are included in this division. Two, the division of assets will be conducted according to the Shafi'i school of jurisprudence."

Sources speaking to Euronews Turkish say that Muhammed Saki Erol is in favor of a Sharia court and that "if an agreement cannot be reached with the brothers, they will apply to the Turkish judiciary."

It is stated that in this way, Saki Erol is "trying to resolve the issue within the family."
