Inheritance dispute turns deadly

An inheritance dispute that occurred on a holiday in the Urla district of İzmir has left a family in mourning. In the Camiatik neighborhood, a verbal argument broke out between R.Ş. (38) and his relative Gökhan Şimşek (33) over a family inheritance during the morning hours. The tension quickly escalated into a fight. As the argument intensified, R.Ş. wounded Şimşek with a knife he was carrying.
Upon notification by bystanders, health and police teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel determined that Gökhan Şimşek had lost his life during their check at the scene. R.Ş., who attempted to flee after the incident, was caught and taken into custody by the police in a short time.
Initial investigations revealed that the root of the fight was a long-standing inheritance dispute. While the investigation continues, Gökhan Şimşek's body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
It was reported that the police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
